Description:
80 William Street is a 20,000 sqm office tower completed in 1987. The building has become a Sydney icon with its distinctive terraced, stepped design, and boasts stunning views of Sydney Harbour. The FCCA required the addition of another floor to incorporate two new Court Rooms, Judges chambers, a large Dining Room, and associated security and administration spaces, and as the floor was to be converted from standard commercial office space to an institutional space, upgrade of the existing mechanical and electrical systems was required.

Rather than provide a standard supplementary mechanical system, gas phase filtration was utilised which enabled the installation of two large courtrooms without the need to supply additional outdoor air to the floor plate. This was the first application of gas phase filtration of this type in Sydney and only the third in Australia. A technical and engineering coup for Datum101!
